The best way to try to paint a picture of “Two Wrongs Make A Vice” is to think of as the garage-band love child of Nick Hornby, J.D. Salinger, and Douglas Coupland. It is perhaps a little less polished, but it holds more truth and heart. It follows the stream of consciousness that Generation Y can become immersed in as the narrator relays tales of growing up dating in the age of IM and facebook and graduating in a time of recession. It holds stories about mistakes with significant others to senior prom to getting your first job after college that are relatable and stick in your head as you recall a similar experience. The narrator laments that “the author gives you a microscopic piece of himself or herself and, in return, you give the author a certain number of hours in your life.” Then claims, “it’s not always a fair trade.” In the case of “Two Wrongs”, it is. – Kaitlyn Beebe
“Nick, I just pulled my nose out of your book. It was unbelievably amazing. Reading the last sentence, it left me there just sitting on my bed with a cup of tea thinking about myself and my story. I loved how you described and explained the music you listened to like Brand New. You made a soundtrack for me to listen to as I read. It was very, i don’t know, comforting to know other people can see a song for more than just a catchy melody. I read and re-read as you told the stories about the girls who’s presence made it into this story. I sat there talking to myself, I can’t believe her. . . I can’t believe him! It was a roller coaster of emotions. And then to following your dream. It just really helps to know, that reassurance, that following your dreams isn’t easy, and it comes along with headaches, heart ache, and downfalls; but when something comes along you know it has and will be worth it. I feel a bit of confidence in myself now, that even when I am frustrated at that blank white screen and blinking curser that eventually my story will come together as well. I feel like I know you, well a part of you; not just because of the book, but because I somehow found myself in a lot of what you wrote.” -Tumblr user SubjectToInterpretation

What I really loved about your book was the fact that it was like a boy version of how i can be. and the fact that you have amazing choices in music. it’s really well written also. I always like different styles of writing and yours was great. I also love how it had a lot to say. it wasn’t like just some book about one event in time. it was a whole mesh of things. -Hannah Margaret Stevens

I want you all to read this book, just for the simple fact of how much honesty, passion, and heart he poured into it. It was a terrific read and I didn’t want it to be over.- Tumblr user Dayninetyone
I could relate to the majority of it, and some things made me laugh out loud. (and cackle accidently – IN PUBLIC) I took it to work with me every day and honestly it helped so much. Like, i didn’t actually want to bury my head in the freezer. It felt so real, the scenarios and the emotion and everything. I also actually have that odd fear of heights, like the fear of ‘going up’ I struggle to look at a clear sky because I think I’m going to suddenly shoot up!… anyways. Your first novel is really special, congrats

…I could find myself within the stories. It is told in such a heartbreakingly true manner that you believe in it; everything feels real. I had barely finished Track 1 before I was calling my dad explaining how captivated I already was… When you find a book you really like, you have a decision to make: to share the book with everyone you know, or to keep the treasure for yourself. I’ve decided to take the first route, carrying “Two Wrongs” around with me everywhere I go and telling anyone who will listen. -Haley Baker, reader.
Now I do not even know where to begin in telling you how amazed, proud, and downright blow away I was, the whole time I read your book. I always knew you were incredibly unique and talented, but I am so glad that I got to experience that first hand. I read quite a bit and the pure emotions and pictures that were painted throughout the story were breathtaking. I really felt like I could see the images you wanted me to see.
I think that you have a way of telling a story that can captivate many different people. There were times when I felt sympathetic towards the narrator, times that I was completely empathetic (failing the first driving test), and yet times I was angry with his choices. Being able to feel emotions when I read is why I enjoy reading, and your story was full of many different emotions.
